Apple has been one of the most successful companies making the best gadgets of all time. That is exactly why iPads have become the synonym for tablets.

However, does this mean that there are no differences between an iPad and a tablet? Absolutely not, there are, in fact, several factors that differentiate an iPad from a tablet.

If you are a new iPad user or if you are willing to buy an iPad, it is a must for you to know the differences between an iPad and a tablet. Therefore, today we are going to clear up this confusion for you and answer the questions once and for all!

What is a Tablet?

In simpler words, tablets are a more compact version of a personal computer or a laptop. They look like very large smartphones but they can perform most of the tasks that a personal computer can do.

You can browse the internet, read an e-book, send emails, write documents and so much more using a tablet. Tablets also have good-quality front and back cameras that can be used for taking pictures or video chatting.

However, tablets are not very great for calling. Rather, it is hard to make a call even with tablets that have calling features due to how bulky they are.

Is an iPad also a tablet?

The short and straightforward answer to this is- yes, every iPad is technically a tablet. iPads are basically Apple’s version of a tablet. Similar to Samsung, Microsoft, and other companies manufacturing their tablets, Apple makes them as well but they just have their own name-iPad.

Maximum non-Apple tablets use Google’s Android operating system but an iPad is powered by a special operating system called iPadOS. An iPadOS is basically an extended version of iOS and has some special features for an iPad. An iPad is also especially designed to be used as an alternative to a laptop.

Major Differences Between an iPad and a tablet?

It is quite hard to differentiate between an iPad and a tablet, mostly because an iPad is a tablet itself. However, there are some major differences that we cannot ignore. These dissimilarities include:

Operating System

This is obviously the highlight of all the differences between an iPad and a tablet. Tablets usually use operating systems like either Android or windows. On the other hand, the iPad only uses iOS just like the iPhone.

Flash

Flash is a web-based software that allows tablets to watch and download videos from different websites. However, this is not the case with an iPad. Flash can easily be downloaded on an iPad but no matter how much you try, you cannot install it on an iPad.

Airdrop

Airdrop is an amazing built-in feature that all of the Apple products have. This feature allows you to share anything from one Apple gadget to another within the blink of an eye.

Tablets have Bluetooth which is supposed to do the same but Bluetooth is not as fast as the airdrop.

Verdict

Now that you know the differences between an iPad and a tablet, it is on you to decide whether you want to go for an iPad or a tablet. You know, both have some unique features that make them stand apart from other.

There are some functional differences between tablets and iPad that you should consider before choosing one for you. Hence, the main difference is in the operating systems.
